The ProcessThe Jefferson County Transfer Station collects recycling using the “Single Stream” method. This allows recyclers to place all acceptable materials together in to one bin or container. The recyclables are then transported to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) where they are separated and prepared for sale, a video of the separation process can be found here.
The Transfer Station
At the Transfer Station community members can deposit recycling in the Single Stream Compactor FREE OF CHARGE! Simply remove recycling from any plastic bags and dump the recycling into the hopper. Site Attendants are always available to help unload and answer any question you may have.
Apple Valley WasteApple Valley Waste is a private waste hauler that provides curbside collection of waste and recycling in several counties in West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. In Jefferson County, residents that contract waste collection have access to curbside recycling! Apple Valley also uses the Single Stream method for its curbside collection. This makes recycling as easy as walking your recycling to the curb in front of your home. We encourage all residents to take advantage of curbside recycling!
